Max McNutt
Originally from Columbus, Ohio, Maximillian McNutt received his Bachelor of Music from the Jacob’s School of Music, his Master of Music from Western Michigan University and is pursuing his DMA at the University of Colorado. He is currently Principal Trumpet of the Boulder Symphony and 2nd Trumpet of the Stratus Chamber Orchestra. In addition to his duties with the Boulder Symphony and Stratus Chamber Orchestra Mr. McNutt has performed with the Colorado Symphony, Cheyenne Symphony, Boulder Chamber Orchestra, Denver Philharmonic, Lima Symphony, Longmont Symphony, Aurora Symphony, New Albany Symphony, Central Ohio Symphony, Opera Project Columbus, Mahlerfest Orchestra, Miami Music Festival Orchestra, Marrowstone Music Festival Symphony Orchestra and the Bay View Music Festival Orchestra. Some of his performance accolades include 3rd place at the Roger Voisin Memorial Trumpet Competition, national winner of the MTNA Young Artist Brass Division, winner of the University of Colorado Concerto Competition, 2nd place at the International Trumpet Guild Orchestral Excerpts Competition, Winner of the Bay View Music Festival Concerto Competition and Semi-Finalist at the National Trumpet Competition.
His primary teachers include Dr. Ryan Gardner, Justin Bartels, Scott Thornburg, Dr. Robert White and John Rommel.
Dilon Bryan
Dilon Bryan is the newest member of the Buffalo Brass Quintet, a chamber group comprised of CU Boulder's top-performing brass musicians. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree studying under Colorado Symphony's principal horn, Michael Thornton and CSO's second horn, Carolyn Kunicki. Dilon also performs as a substitute horn with the Longmont Symphony, Colorado Springs Philharmonic, Billings Symphony, as well as the Colorado Symphony. He was formerly a member of the acclaimed Bulldog Brass Society, hailing from the University of Georgia. They were 2018 American Brass Quintet Seminar fellowship recipients at the Aspen Music Festival. Upon being named the winner of the 2019 Pro-Mozart Society of Atlanta Scholarship Competition, he was offered the opportunity to study at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria. While in Salzburg, he had the opportunity to perform in the beautiful Wiener Saal as a result of also being named a First Prize winner in the Grand Prize Virtuoso Competition. Dilon's notable teachers have included Anna Dodd, Natalie Higgins, Catherine Kilroe-Smith, Jean Martin-Williams, Achim Reus, and Johannes Hinterholzer.
Aaron Zalkind
Trombonist Aaron Zalkind is an orchestral musician, chamber musician and educator living in Boulder, Colorado. Zalkind has been a member of several music festivals throughout the United States, including the National Repertory Orchestra, the Pierre Monteux School, the Brevard Music Center and the National Orchestral Institute. Zalkind has also performed with a number of professional ensembles, including the New World Symphony, the Colorado symphony, the Breckenridge music festival and the Boulder Philharmonic. An avid chamber musician, Zalkind was a member of the Juilliard Trombone Quartet, who in 2016 took first prize at the American trombone workshop in Washington D.C. Zalkind is currently pursuing a doctorate in trombone performance and pedagogy at the University of Colorado Boulder. Aaron’s primary mentors include Peter Ellefson, Joseph Alessi, William Stanley and Larry Zalkind. Aaron holds a masters degree from the Juilliard School and a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University. Zalkind has received top prizes in a variety of prestigious competitions, including second prize in the 2019 Zellmer trombone competition and two first prizes at the 2019 International Women's Brass Conference for orchestral and band excerpts competitions. He also won first prize in the 2018 University of Colorado Honors concerto competition.
