DANCE ASPEN
Dance Aspen is a newly formed company that includes many former members of the world-renowned Aspen Santa Fe Ballet. The company's mission is to enrich the Roaring Fork Community through locally based curations of high caliber performing arts.
Ben Needham-Wood
Ben Needham-Wood is an Emmy Award-winning choreographer based in San Francisco. His works have been presented nationally by professional companies, TV networks, commercial airlines, film festivals, and galas. In 2018 Ben co-created the dance film, BaseBallet: Into the Game, which was awarded 4 regional Emmy Awards and recognized by film festivals across the country.
Ben has also been trusted to serve in arts leadership for several dance organizations. He is the first appointed Artistic Fellow of Amy Seiwert’s Imagery, and held the position of rehearsal assistant for Smuin Contemporary Ballet for 3 seasons. Ben is also the founder and director of Redirecting Dance - a newly formed company established to inspire empathy and address major social issues through the expressive medium of dance.
Laurel Jenny Winton
Laurel has been known as Jenny Winton through most of her professional career. In 2009 she joined the Joffrey Ballet and was an artist of the company for five years before she transitioned into the Broadway world and took on the role of “Penny” in the International Broadway Tour of “Dirty Dancing”. She fell in love with acting and Co-Starred on the CBS television series “BULL” before she joined one of her dream companies Aspen Santa Fe Ballet. Laurel created Dance Aspen in order to stay a part of the community and continue dancing with this local group of professionals she calls family.
Katherine Eberle Bolaños
Katherine Eberle Bolaños, a native of Oklahoma City, began her professional career at the age of fifteen with Ballet Oklahoma where she danced for seven years. As a guest artist with Long Beach Ballet, she toured extensively throughout Taiwan and China, performing the role of Jasmine in Aladdin. In 2004, she joined the Aspen Santa Fe Ballet under the direction of Jean-Philippe Malaty and Tom Mossbrucker, where she remained for 16 seasons. During her time in Aspen, Katherine enjoyed dancing all over the world in close to fifty ballets, twenty three of which were commissioned. She feels fortunate to have worked with and performed ballets by world renowned choreographers including Bryan Arias, Gerald Arpino, Cherice Barton, Alejandro Cerrudo, Norbert De La Cruz III, Dominique Dumais, Alexander Ekman, Jorma Elo, Nicolo Fonte, Itzik Galili, Jiri Kylian, Fernando Melo, Cayetano Soto, David Parsons, Moses Pendleton, Helen Pickett, Dwight Rhoden, and Twyla Tharp. During this past year, Katherine obtained her Associates in Psychology from Colorado Mountain College and is looking forward to her future endeavors.
