DENVER INDIAN SINGERS AND DANCERS
The Denver Singers and Dancers will be sharing Native American social dances from the Great Plains. The Denver Singers is a Native American Drum Group that originated in the 1970s in the Denver Metro Area. The Denver Singers consists of singers from various tribes coming together.
Due to the Relocation Act of 1956, the original singers came to urban areas to provide more for their families, which resulted in the formation of the Denver Singers. The Denver Singers were formed keep their tribal culture strong, along with learning the culture of the urban city. The Denver Singers is now on their second generation and look forward to singing for future generations to come. Accompanying the Denver Singers are dancers preforming social dances pays respect and honor to many different aspects including Mother Earth and warriors of the past and present. These dances were passed down through many generations and are shared among the public along with our powwow celebrations.
