PAUL FOWLER & 3RD LAW DANCE/THEATER
Paul Fowler is a concert composer, producer, pianist, and vocalist. A sampling of his projects include a work for percussion ensemble with video playback based on Charlie Chaplin’s shorts for the Ju Percussion Group, an orchestral commission for the New York Youth Symphony, associate production of “In The Blood,” for Native American artist and Grammy winner, Robert Mirabal, and collaborations with Paul Haas and Sympho, using the computer as an improvisational instrument in conjunction with orchestra. His music has been performed at Japan’s Suntory Hall, the National Concert Hall of Taiwan, the Borealis Festival of Norway, the MATA festival, the Kennedy Center, and Carnegie Hall. He has degrees in voice, composition and theater from Ithaca College and a masters in composition from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. www.paulfowler.net

Artistic Director Katie Elliott, with and through the Company, has created and presented a panorama of evening-length, provocatively themed works and site-specific installations. The company professes a creative vision that merges a powerful, energetic bodily idiom with a thoughtful and personal spirit. 3rd Law desires to create a magical space for widely diverse audiences, a space that will transport them outside of the here and now.
3rd Law has created more than twenty original works for the stage and many one-of-a-kind, site-specific works with numerous artistic collaborators. Works such as Wanderer, Till We Wake, Mammals That Lay Eggs, Authentic Re-Production, The CleanRoom, Blind Contour, Lost in Place and Bread & Salt have addressed issues as diverse as returning veterans, tradition and its place in the modern world, migration, and the effect of digital technology on us and our children.
